UNESCO has raised concerns over the alarming rate of glacier melting worldwide. According to a recent report, a staggering 9,000 gigatons of ice have melted since 1975, equivalent to the total land area of Germany.
The report further states that in 2024 alone, 450 gigatons of ice have been lost. If this trend continues, most glaciers around the world will disappear within a century.
Currently, there are approximately 275,000 glaciers across the globe, but their rapid depletion poses a significant threat to the environment and water resources.
