The Karachi traffic police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for the central Youm-e-Ali (A.S) procession, which will be held on Friday (March 22) to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali ibn e Abi Talib (A.S).
According to officials, the main congregation will take place at Nishtar Park on the 21st of Ramadan, following which the central procession is scheduled to commence at 1pm.
To facilitate the event, M.A. Jinnah Road will remain closed to regular traffic from Guru Mandir to Tower, while alternative routes will be managed by traffic police personnel to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
The procession will start from Nishtar Park and pass through Numaish, M.A. Jinnah Road, and Sea Breeze before reaching Empress Market in Saddar. It will then proceed via Saddar Regal and Tibet Centre, rejoining M.A. Jinnah Road and concluding at Hussainia Imambargah in Kharadar via Bolton Market.
Alternative routes for commuters
Authorities have issued the following alternative routes for motorists:
- Traffic from Nazimabad can take Lasbela Chowk and Nishtar Road to reach the Garden area
- Commuters from Liaquatabad may use routes via Teen Hatti, Lasbela Chowk, and Central Jail
- Vehicles traveling from Hasan Square to PP Chowrangi will be diverted via Kashmir Road towards Society Light Signal
- Traffic from Jail Flyover will be redirected towards Teen Hatti and Nishtar Road
- Vehicles on Shahrah-e-Quaideen heading towards Numaish will be diverted to Kashmir Road via Society Light Signal
- Motorists from Jamshed Road to Guru Mandir can use Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar to reach their destinations
Traffic police have advised commuters to plan their routes accordingly and follow instructions to avoid inconvenience.
