The federal government has approved a series of special security measures to protect the capital from miscreants, including the creation of a dedicated security force under the Islamabad Police to strengthen law and order.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the swift establishment of a Law and Order Division to oversee the new force. The special security force will focus on maintaining order in Islamabad and ensuring the safety of its residents amidst concerns over potential riots.
The Special Protection Unit (SPU) meant for safeguarding Chinese residents in Islamabad will function separately. This unit will also draw officers and personnel from the Islamabad Police, with plans underway for hundreds of new recruitments to meet the increased demand for manpower.
