Mohammad Abbas (2-3) and Khurram Shahzad (1-22) bamboozled the South Africa top order as the hosts were looking to complete the run chase on day three in the first Test in Centurion on Saturday.
Chasing a 147-run target, the Proteas lost Tony de Zorzi (2), Ryan Rickelton (0), Tristan Stubbs (1) before the match officials called off the third day’s play.
As far Pakistan were concerned, they will look to start the day four with the attacking approach with the belief that they can contain the South Africa.
On the other side, despite losing three quick wickets, South Africa will have the belief that they can turn the tides as both Bavuma and Markram were still on the wicket. The Proteas were having a sound batting order to come.
Earlier, Marco Jansen (6-52) helped South Africa to bundle out Pakistan for 237 inside the 60th sixth over in the second innings on the day three of the first Test.
According to details, the Pakistan batters, with the exception of Saud Shakeel and Babar Azam failed to show any significant resistance, which dashed the Pakistan’s hopes to set a formidable total for the hosts.
Saud Shakeel played a great hand in a very tough conditions for batting. He scored 113-ball 84, lacing with 10 boundaries and one six, before he was trapped lbw by Jansen.
Babar Azam, was looking good and ensuring to tick all the boxes, before he was removed by Jansen on 85-ball 50, lacing with nine boundaries.
Earlier tomorrow, captain Shan Masood was looking good for his 47-ball 28 but Jansen had other plans as he removed the former in no time.
Saim Ayub was looking in shape and smashed six boundaries to compile 36-ball 27, before he was perplexed by seasoned campaigner Kagiso Rabada.
Kamran Ghulam, who scored a fifty in the first innings was dismissed by Jansen. Ghulam could only score 8-ball 4.
Mohammad Rizwan could not compile a big knock and was perished on 3 balls, 1.
Salman Agha (1), who had a reputation of anchoring in crunch moments, could not rebound the Green Shirts’ innings.
Aamer Jamal was looking to assist Shakeel, but Dane Paterson removed Jamal on 32-ball 18.
Naseem Shah made his way back to the pavilion without troubling the scorecard. It was Rabada who sent Shah back to the pavilion.
Mohammad Abbas was the last one to depart off Corbin Bosch, without scoring a run.
