Multan hosted US Consul General Kristin K. Hawkins and USAID Mission Director Veeraya (Kate) Somvongsiri, who visited the historic Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) as part of a cultural heritage conservation program.
Speaking at the event, Consul General Hawkins expressed her excitement, saying, "It is a great pleasure to be here."
Hawkins announced an upcoming restoration project aimed at reviving Ghanta Ghar to its original grandeur, with the initiative set to train 150 local students in cultural preservation techniques.
"This project is part of our ongoing commitment to protect and celebrate Pakistan's rich heritage," she noted.
Highlighting the US government's long-standing support in Pakistan, Hawkins mentioned that over the past 20 years, the US government has contributed to 35 cultural conservation projects across the country.
The visit underscores the continued efforts by the US and Pakistan to strengthen ties through cultural preservation and educational programs.
