Switzerland has been left in shock following the horrific murder of former Miss Switzerland finalist, Kristina Joksimovic.
The 38-year-old former model was found dead on February 13 in her Binningen home, just outside Basel. Authorities revealed that her husband, Thomas, allegedly murdered her in a gruesome act, dismembering and dissolving parts of her body.
Swiss police disclosed that Ms. Joksimovic had been strangled before her death. Her 41-year-old husband, identified only as "Thomas" in local reports, was arrested shortly after the crime and later confessed. He claimed that he acted in self-defense, alleging that his wife had attacked him with a knife. However, investigators have found forensic evidence that contradicts this claim.
After strangling Ms. Joksimovic, Thomas allegedly dismembered her body in their laundry room using a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears. Local media also reported that some remains were processed with a hand blender and dissolved in chemicals.
Despite Thomas's assertion of self-defense, forensic experts pointed to signs of premeditation and mental illness. Reports suggest that Thomas had "sadistic tendencies" and displayed a high level of criminal intent. Investigators described his actions as "cold-blooded" and lacking any empathy.
Adding to the tragedy, it was revealed that Thomas had previously strangled his wife on an earlier occasion. Prosecutors also uncovered testimony from a former partner, who claimed Thomas had been violent towards her, at one point slamming Ms. Joksimovic’s head against a wall.
The federal court in Lausanne recently rejected Thomas's appeal for release, and he remains in custody as the investigation continues.
