Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Sukkur, presided over by Judge Abdul Rehman Qazi, announced the reserved verdict in the murder case of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Dr. Khalid Mehmood Soomro.
The court sentenced all six accused to life imprisonment along with heavy fines after finding them guilty of murder and terrorism charges. The accused also received an additional seven years of imprisonment for illegal possession of weapons.
The convicted individuals include Hanif Bhutto, Mushtaq Mehr, Altaf Jamali, Latif Jamali, Sarang Totani, and Darya Khan Jamali, all of whom have been imprisoned in Sukkur Central Jail since 2014.
Reacting to the verdict, Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro, a senior JUI leader, expressed dissatisfaction, stating, "The punishment should have been death for the proven crime. We will approach the High Court for justice."
He further added, "This is incomplete justice. We will continue our efforts to secure justice peacefully and ensure that peace prevails."
