Equipment worth hundreds and millions of rupees has reportedly been stolen from the largest hospital in Punjab.
Most of the equipment removed from the Mayo Hospital Lahore buildings went missing during its renovation.
The hospital’s assistant medical superintendent has written a letter to the chief executive demanding action under the PEEDA Act.
In the letter, the AMS says expensive air conditioning systems were stolen during the renovation, while lists of lights, fridges of medicine and fans were also not presented.
Other items that were reported missing were patient beds, medicine trolleys, chairs, and benches, as well as pipes meant for oxygen supply to patients, according to the letter.
Some heavy-duty wires, doors, and windows were also stolen, it noted. Several months have passed, but the supervisor concerned has not compiled or provided a list of the missing equipment.
It suggested that legal action be taken against the staff of the hospital under the PEEDA Act.
An investigation into the theft of goods was going on, the hospital administration claimed.
