With the clock ticking down to the final hours before the country heads to polls, political parties are making their last-ditch efforts to woo voters as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issues a stern warning against any political activities beyond the stipulated deadline.
Under the Elections Act 2017, Section 182 mandates the cessation of public meetings, processions, and other campaign activities within 48 hours preceding the polling day.
The ECP, in its recent notification, emphasized that any breach of this provision would lead to legal repercussions, with potential penalties including imprisonment or hefty fines.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has established a dedicated control room to oversee the electoral process.

For the first time in history, WhatsApp will serve as a platform for filing complaints, ushering in a new era of transparency and accessibility in the electoral process, according to a spokesperson of the Election Commission.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday said that it was ready to hold general elections in 2024 as the election campaign will culminate at 12 midnight.
The ECP vowed to take serious action against the election advertisements in TV and newspapers after the deadline.

“After 12:00 PM, legal action will be taken on the election campaign,” the ECP said.
The spokesperson of the supreme electoral body will inform that the delivery of election materials to district returning officers (DROs) across the country has been completed.
“All arrangements have been completed by the Election Commission for the general elections. The printing and delivery of ballot papers for the elections has been completed,” he said.
ECP Punjab establishes control room: Chohan
ECP Punjab chapter has established control rooms at the district level for the general elections.
Provincial Election Commissioner Ijaz Anwar Chauhan addressing a press conference on Tuesday said that all the preparations have been completed.
“Over five lakh staffers will be deployed at the polling stations. Control rooms established at the district level for general elections and preparations regarding the elections have been completed,” Ejaz Anwar Chauhan said.

Provincial Election Commissioner said: “Polling staff have been trained, they will perform their duties according to the law. Polling materials are being handed over to Returning Officers. The ROs will hand over the polling materials tomorrow to their presiding officers.”
“Instructions related to police and forces polling stations have been issued. On the day of polling, all complaints of the citizens will be resolved immediately,’ he added.
“The problems that are still coming are being removed. In NA-127, there have been reports regarding the alleged buying and selling of votes. Immediate action has been taken for this, action will be taken against whoever is responsible,” he vowed.
ECP two spokespersons
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed two spokespersons for the general elections in 2024. Nighat Siddiqui (Additional DG) and Hamid Raza Khan (Hamid Raza) will be the spokespersons.
