The Water and Power Division Authority (WAPDA) on Friday said that the outgoing year 2023 has been a satisfying year for WAPDA hydel generation and its under-construction projects.
WAPDA generated 34 billion units of hydel electricity; 2.2 billion more than last year.
This increased hydel generation helped the national exchequer save Rs106 billion.
2023 also augured well for under-construction WAPDA projects. Despite the economic crunch, work on these projects continued unabated. WAPDA also achieved landmark of Indus River Diversion at Dasu Project in February, while at Diamer Basha Dam in December through test-run.
