Former Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq shared a touching anecdote about the camaraderie between Indian cricketers and Maulana Tariq Jameel.
In a viral video, he disclosed that Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian cricketer, was deeply moved by Maulana Tariq Jameel’s teachings and even contemplated embracing Islam.
The incident unfolded during prayer sessions led by Maulana Tariq Jameel, attended by several cricketers, including Harbhajan.
Inzamam recalled how Harbhajan, after participating in these prayer meetings, expressed admiration for Maulana Tariq Jameel and contemplated adopting his teachings.
"We had a room where prayers were offered, Maulana Tariq Jameel used to visit us in the evening and lead prayers. After a few days, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif, and Zaheer Khan also started coming, while four other Indian cricketers used to sit and watch us," Inzamam revealed.
According to Inzamam, Harbhajan was initially unaware that Tariq Jameel was a Maulana. Impressed by the spiritual sessions, Harbhajan conveyed his inspiration and desire to follow Maulana Tariq Jameel's teachings.
However, Harbhajan Singh promptly clarified the matter on social networking website X (formerly Twitter), expressing his displeasure over the false claim of his conversion to Islam.
The former Indian cricketer wrote, “Yeh kon sa nasha pee kar baat kar raha hai ? I am a proud Indian and proud Sikh..yeh Bakwaas log kuch bi bakte hai.”
