After her much-talked-about cameo as Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in Brahmastra (2022), Deepika Padukone is reportedly stepping into another similar role — this time, playing Suhana Khan’s mother in the upcoming action-thriller King.
Fans were intrigued when Deepika appeared briefly as Amrita, the mother of Ranbir Kapoor’s character Shiva, in Brahmastra. Her role is expected to expand in the sequel. But now, according to an exclusive report by Peeping Moon, the actress is all set to make an extended cameo in King — where she will portray the mother of Suhana Khan’s character.
The film also stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role as a mysterious assassin, making this a high-stakes project packed with action and drama.
If this news holds true, King will mark Deepika’s sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan after hits like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan, and Jawan. Both SRK and director Siddharth Anand were reportedly keen to bring Deepika on board for this special role, and she readily agreed.
Deepika previously left a strong emotional impact in a cameo as Shah Rukh’s wife Aishwarya in Jawan — a role that resonated deeply with audiences. The film is said to be loosely based on the 1994 French classic Léon: The Professional.
Shah Rukh Khan plays an assassin, while Suhana Khan reportedly plays a young girl caught in his dangerous world. Abhishek Bachchan will be seen as the main antagonist.
The film is being jointly produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Productions.
Interestingly, this will also be Deepika’s first on-screen project since embracing motherhood in September 2024 — adding to the excitement for her fans.
Whether this new role turns out to be another powerful cameo or something more, Deepika Padukone’s star power remains unmatched, and her return to the screen is sure to spark major excitement.
