Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai paid a one-day visit to district Shangla, where she met with her family members and students at the school named after her in her native village, Barkana Shahpur.
Accompanied by her parents, Ziauddin Yousafzai and Toor Pekai, Malala arrived in her hometown via helicopter from Islamabad under tight security arrangements. Upon her arrival, she received a warm welcome from her family and students of the school.
During her visit, Malala met with her relatives and spent time at her old home. She also visited the Malala Yousafzai School, established for orphaned and underprivileged girls, where she interacted with students and attended a ceremony.
After completing her engagements, Malala departed for Islamabad.
