The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has released a new song titled "Dushman Sun" (Listen Enemy) to commemorate the sixth anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, the military operation conducted by the Pakistan Air Force on February 27, 2019.
The song expresses the commitment and resolve of Pakistan's armed forces to defend the nation's sovereignty against external threats. According to ISPR's announcement, the lyrics were penned by Ahmad Azeem while Kamran Allah Khan composed and performed the musical tribute.
February 27, 2019, marks a significant date in Pakistan's military history when the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) responded to a border violation by shooting down two Indian fighter jets. During the operation, an Indian pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, was captured by Pakistani forces after his aircraft was downed.
The military spokesperson described the event as a demonstration of the professional capability of Pakistan's armed forces and the determination of its citizens. The operation came in response to airspace violations along the border between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
"This song serves as a reminder of the nation's pledge to deliver a decisive response to any aggression against Pakistan's sovereignty," an ISPR statement noted. Officials characterized the musical release as "a clarion call to any adversary with ill intentions toward the country."
Operation Swift Retort remains a significant point of national pride in Pakistan, regularly commemorated as a demonstration of the country's defense capabilities and readiness to respond to security threats.
The song's release comes amid ongoing regional tensions, with military officials emphasizing that the anniversary represents a renewal of Pakistan's commitment to maintaining its territorial integrity and responding to any future violations of its borders.
