Armed terrorists launched an attack on the Toot Pyala area in Lower Kurram on Saturday morning, using heavy and automatic weapons.
However, their plans were thwarted after a swift and strong retaliation by local tribes, forcing the assailants to flee the scene.
According to police sources, the terrorists abandoned rocket launcher shells, wireless sets, and petrol they had brought with them, allegedly to set houses on fire. The timely intervention of the local tribes played a crucial role in preventing further damage and potential casualties.
Authorities have launched a search operation in the area to trace the fleeing attackers. Security has been tightened to prevent any follow-up attacks.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the funeral prayers of police officer Syed Ashiq Hussain, who was martyred in a firing incident in the Boshehra area of Kurram district, were held with full official honours at the DPO office in Parachinar. A large number of police officials, local dignitaries, and residents attended the ceremony.
After the funeral, Syed Ashiq Hussain was laid to rest in his native village of Noor Ki, where emotional scenes were witnessed as family, friends, and colleagues bid farewell to the fallen hero.
