The highly anticipated third and final instalment of Farhan Akhtar's 'Don' franchise has added another powerful performer to its star-studded cast.
According to sources close to the production, Vikrant Massey has been confirmed to play the antagonist opposite Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani in 'Don 3'.
The casting news comes as a thrilling development for fans who have been eagerly following updates about the project since Akhtar announced Ranveer Singh as the franchise's new face in August 2023. The director, who previously helmed 'Don' (2006) and 'Don 2' (2011), has confirmed that filming will commence in 2025.
Massey's inclusion in the project follows his critically acclaimed performance in '12th Fail'. Industry insiders reveal that the actor's recent success significantly influenced his selection for this pivotal role. While earlier reports had suggested ongoing negotiations, Filmfare's sources have now confirmed his official signing.
Interestingly, this casting announcement coincides with Massey's recent declaration of taking a brief sabbatical from films. In December 2024, the actor shared his plans to step back after completing his next two projects, citing a desire to reconnect with his personal life and various roles as a husband, father, and son.
Before his planned break, Massey is currently working on 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' alongside Shanaya Kapoor, under Santosh Singh's direction. The film, written by Niranjan Iyengar and Mansi Bagla, will be one of his final projects before the hiatus.
'Don 3' marks a significant milestone in the franchise's history, with Ranveer Singh stepping into the shoes of the iconic mafia kingpin, a role previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in the modern iterations. The addition of Kiara Advani and now Vikrant Massey signals an exciting new chapter in the crime thriller series.
