Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has terminated two crew members, Mohammed Mumtaz and Asifa Naaz, after conducting an internal investigation confirming their involvement in mobile phone smuggling.
The employees were found guilty of illegally transporting mobile phones during a Toronto-Lahore flight. Following a comprehensive inquiry where the accused failed to provide satisfactory explanations, PIA management exercised its disciplinary authority under established regulations.
A PIA spokesperson emphasized the organization's zero-tolerance stance toward regulatory violations, stating that no exceptions would be made regardless of an employee's position.
The dismissal underscores PIA's commitment to maintaining operational integrity and adhering strictly to legal and organizational standards.
The incident highlights ongoing efforts within the national carrier to prevent unauthorized activities and ensure comprehensive security protocols.
