The United Arab Emirates announced free visas for Sukkur district council members and pledged educational support during a diplomatic visit to Pakistan's Sindh province this week.
UAE Consul General Dr Bakheet Ateeq Al-Rumaithi unveiled several initiatives during his visit to the Sukkur district council, including scholarships for 10 local students to pursue higher education in the UAE. The announcement came alongside plans to construct a women's and children's hospital in the region.
The diplomatic mission formalized these commitments through memorandums of understanding (MOUs) signed by Al-Rumaithi and Sukkur District Council Chairman Syed Kumail Haider Shah. The agreements also include provisions for building the Sukkur Tower Monument.
During the visit, Al-Rumaithi highlighted the UAE's visa processing capabilities, noting that Karachi hosts Asia's largest UAE visa center. He encouraged Pakistani citizens to work directly with the visa center rather than through travel agencies.
The Consul General emphasized the presence of two million Pakistani expatriates in the UAE, citing examples of successful integration including a Pakistani woman holding a senior healthcare sector position.
"Our relations are built on mutual love and respect," Al-Rumaithi said, acknowledging the district's gesture of illuminating Sukkur during UAE's National Day celebrations.
The diplomatic initiative marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations, particularly focusing on educational opportunities and healthcare development in Pakistan's Sukkur district.
