In preparation for the - 13th of Rajab - birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S) procession, Karachi Traffic Police have issued a detailed diversion plan to ensure the safety and smooth movement of vehicles.
The main procession will begin at Tibet Centre and culminate at Soldier Bazar. As a result, key roads along the procession route will be closed to traffic for security reasons.
MA Jinnah Road, stretching from Tibet Centre to Guru Mandir, will be closed, along with the surrounding streets in the vicinity.
Key road closures and alternate routes:
- Sharea Quaideen will be closed from the Khudadad signal; however, the bridge connecting Khudadad signal to Saddar will remain open.
- Commuters using Bahadur Yar Jang Road to travel from Guru Mandir to Tower are advised to take alternate routes via Soldier Bazar No 1 Signal, Coast Guard, and Anklesaria Hospital Signal.
- For those traveling from Sharea Quaideen towards Naumaish Chowrangi, MA Jinnah Road, or Society Light Signal, an alternate route is advised via Ayesha Aziz Chowrangi to PP Chowrangi. Similarly, traffic from the Society Light Signal can take the Khudadad Colony Bridge to Empress Market.
- Traffic from Fresco to Naumaish Chowrangi can use the Eidgah Chowk route and proceed via the post office on the left to Jubilee to Nishtar Road. Alternatively, they can take a right turn from Tibet Centre to Regal Chowk.
- For those heading from Fawara Chowk to Garden Nishtar Road, the recommended route is via Abdullah Haroon Road from Fawara Chowk.
- Traffic from Paradise Signal can either go left to the Passport Office or right towards Empress Market.
- Finally, commuters traveling from Garden Baghicha to Aga Khan Third Road can follow the route from Anklesaria to Gul Plaza and then to Tibet Chowk.
Authorities have urged the public to plan their travel ahead of time and avoid the affected areas to minimize disruptions.
These measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of participants and prevent any untoward incidents during the procession.
