Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir presided over the 268th Corps Commanders Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Friday, where senior military leaders conducted an extensive review of the regional and internal security situation.
The conference began with prayers for the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and innocent citizens who laid down their lives for the peace and stability of the country. The forum paid tribute to their unwavering sacrifices in defending the motherland.
Comprehensive security briefing
The participants received a detailed briefing on the prevailing regional security landscape, emerging national security challenges, and Pakistan’s strategic response to evolving threats. The forum reiterated the Pakistan Army's unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism without discrimination and at all costs.
Emphasizing national unity and institutional harmony, the conference resolved that the state will take all necessary measures against anti-national elements, their facilitators, and those inciting unrest. The military leadership reaffirmed that no individual or group will be allowed to disturb peace, particularly in Balochistan.
“The nefarious political and social elements seeking to destabilize Balochistan will be decisively thwarted with the full support of the people,” the forum concluded, insisting that the "true face, nexus, and efforts" of all domestic and foreign elements in Balochistan to spread and foster chaos had been fully exposed.
"Such elements and all those making such efforts will not get any kind of concession," the forum reiterated.
Commitment to National Action Plan, rule of law
The forum highlighted the need for swift and effective implementation of the "Azm-e-Istehkam" strategy under the National Action Plan (NAP). It also highlighted the importance of a common approach to combating terrorism with the cooperation of the entire nation.
The conference participants reiterated, "State institutions will strictly implement the law within the ambit of the Constitution," stressing that there would be no leniency or negligence in the implementation of the law.
COAS Gen Asim Munir appreciated the nationwide establishment of District Coordination Committees under NAP and urged for seamless coordination among all state institutions for successful execution.
“There will be no leniency or negligence in implementing the law. All actions will be taken strictly within the framework of the Constitution,” the participants emphasized, with the army chief stressing the need for speedy implementation of the National Action Plan without any hindrance.
The army chief assured full military cooperation with the government and law enforcement agencies in taking strict legal actions against terrorist financing and illegal activities that are intrinsically linked to extremism and terrorism.
"All institutions should ensure sustained coordination, coordinated efforts and cooperation as per the government’s directives in implementing the National Action Plan," Gen Asim Munir asserted. "There is no place for terrorists and their facilitators in Pakistan."
Condemnation of Indian atrocities and solidarity with Kashmir, Palestine
The Corps Commanders expressed deep concern over India’s ongoing human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and condemned the Indian Army’s recent actions along the Line of Control (LoC), including attempts to provoke ceasefire violations.
“Pakistan will continue to extend strong diplomatic, political, and moral support to the just cause of the Kashmiri people,” the forum asserted.
The participants also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and condemned the grave human rights violations and war crimes in Gaza, reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian struggle.
Operational readiness and professionalism emphasised
In his closing remarks, General Asim Munir directed field commanders to ensure the highest standards of operational readiness and combat professionalism. He emphasized rigorous training programs to enhance the army’s preparedness and ability to respond to any threat.
