A local lawyer has approached the court to file a negligence case against Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister/ Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi following the tragic boat accident in Greece, which claimed the lives of 75 Pakistanis.
The Additional Sessions Judge (Court-II) in Sukkur has issued notices summoning Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Interior Minister to appear before the court on January 15.
The court has also directed the Speaker of the National Assembly to ensure the presence of the aforementioned officials.

The petition alleges that government negligence is responsible for the loss of lives, citing that unemployed Pakistanis resort to leaving the country illegally due to lack of opportunities.
The petition further demands a case be registered against government officials at the Rohri police station for failing to prevent the tragedy.
Last week, the FIA initiated action against its officials implicated in human smuggling related to the Greece boat tragedy. A total of 35 officials, including four inspectors, 10 sub-inspectors, and two assistant sub-inspectors, were dismissed from service.
Five head constables and 14 constables were also terminated. Cases were registered against 13 FIA officials found involved in human trafficking. The FIA director general conducted hearings regarding departmental action against these individuals.
The FIA confirmed that the victims of the Greece boat tragedy included Shabbir, Zain, and Zeeshan from Narowal, as well as Owais from Sialkot. It reported that the bodies of four more victims from the Greece boat tragedy were recovered, bringing the total number of deceased to nine.

According to the FIA, 49 Pakistani nationals remained missing in the aftermath of the disaster.
An investigation into the recent Greece boat accident revealed that several officers and officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) were involved in human trafficking, following which departmental action was initiated against them.
In the first phase, 18 FIA officers and officials involved in the case were expelled from the district, including a sub-inspector, three ASIs, 11 head constables and three constables. Sialkot Airport Additional Director (Immigration) Ali Zaidi has also been transferred.
All the suspected officers and officials were posted in Gujrat, Gujranwala and Sialkot, while a notification of their transfers was issued. Kartarpur DD Muhammad Nauman was given the additional charge of Sialkot airport.
