President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the recent firing on a convoy of government vehicles in Lower Kurram, which resulted in the injury of Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud and several other officials.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the incident and called it an intentional effort to sabotage the peace agreement. "This act of violence is a direct attempt to damage the peace agreement and disrupt the ongoing peace efforts in Kurram," the Prime Minister stated.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring peace and security in the region, vowing that the perpetrators of such violence would not succeed.
"We will not allow those who disrupt peace and order and enemies of humanity to succeed in their nefarious designs," Sharif emphasized.
Premier also expressed his prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured, including Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud, who was shifted to the hospital following the attack. “I pray for the swift recovery of all those injured in this tragic incident,” said Shehbaz Sharif.
President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the attack, calling the malicious elements responsible for the violence enemies of the people. “Malignant elements who aim to spread chaos in the country must not be allowed to succeed,” the President stated.
He echoed the Prime Minister's sentiment, highlighting the government's determination to defeat those attempting to destabilize Kurram.
“The people of Pakistan will not allow these malicious forces to succeed in their nefarious purposes. We will stand united against those who seek to disrupt peace,” President Zardari asserted, while also sending his prayers for the injured.
Both leaders emphasized that the government and security forces are actively engaged in combating terrorism and ensuring the restoration of order in Kurram.
President Zardari called for immediate action against those responsible for hindering peace efforts in the region, stressing that their actions must be met with swift and decisive consequences.
This incident follows the recent reopening of the Tal-Parachinar road after a three-month closure, a major development in restoring stability to the region.
The Tal-Parachinar road had been blocked due to ongoing sectarian violence and tribal clashes, which severely hampered the movement of essential goods and services, contributing to a humanitarian crisis.
After an intense peace agreement was signed between warring tribes, the road was officially reopened earlier today, allowing the first convoy of over 75 vehicles to pass through and deliver much-needed supplies, including medicine, wheat, and food items, to the conflict-ridden Kurram district.
