A tragic accident near the Fateh Jang Interchange claimed 12 lives and left 20 injured when a passenger bus overturned.
Rescue officials reported that the accident near Motorway M14 occurred due to a tyre burst. The ill-fated bus was travelling from Mianwali to Rawalpindi. They reported that the deceased included seven women and five men.
Emergency teams, including eight Rescue vehicles and Motorway Police personnel, promptly arrived at the scene. The deceased and injured have been shifted to Fateh Jang Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Efforts are ongoing to provide medical assistance to the injured and notify the families of the victims.
A Motorway Police spokesperson reported that the accident occurred due to the negligence and carelessness of the bus driver, adding that the bus was from Bahawalpur to Islamabad.
Rescue officials reported that heavy machinery has been called in to the accident site, while an operation to recover the injured is underway by cutting off some parts of the bus. They feared the death toll in the accident may rise.
Lodhran: In another road accident, five passengers sustained injuries when their vehicle collided with a tractor-trolley en route to Multan near Makhdoom Wali. The accident occurred due to dense fog, according to the Motorway Police.
The injured were provided immediate assistance and shifted to nearby medical facilities.
Shorkot: A young motorcyclist, identified as 31-year-old Muhammad Ramzan, tragically lost his life when his motorcycle skidded near the motorway interchange on Cantt Road.
Rescue sources confirmed that Ramzan succumbed to head injuries on the spot. His body was transported to THQ Hospital.
Jacobabad: A station house officer was injured when a truck and car collided near Dilawar Town. SHO Ghulam Nabi Bijarani was injured and shifted to a local hospital, the police claimed. They said the accident occurred due to dense fog.
