Despite being one of the most popular motorcycles in Pakistan, the Honda CD 70 is unlikely to see a price reduction in January 2025.
The Honda CD 70, renowned for its fuel efficiency and durability, remains a top choice for urban commuters and short-distance travellers.
The motorcycle, equipped with a 72cc four-stroke, air-cooled engine, has long held a strong resale value due to its low maintenance costs and the easy availability of spare parts nationwide.
Earlier this year, Atlas Honda introduced the 2025 model, featuring updated graphics but retaining the same structural design that has defined the two-wheeler for decades. Despite its unchanged appearance, the Honda CD 70 continues to command a significant share of the market.
Current price
As of December 2024, the Honda CD 70 is priced at Rs157,900. Over recent years, the motorcycle's price has increased substantially, largely due to the devaluation of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar and rising production costs.
Motorcycle dealers and consumers alike have expressed concern over the consistent price hikes, urging both the government and manufacturers to take measures to make motorcycles more affordable.
"The prices are much higher in Pakistan compared to other markets," said a customer in Karachi. "The government should regulate profits to ensure affordability for the average buyer."
Outlook for Jan 2025
According to a motorcycle dealer in Lahore, there is no indication of a price reduction in the coming month. "We have not received any hints from the company about lowering prices," he said, adding that the company might opt to maintain the current pricing due to the rupee's continued struggle against the dollar.
Market analysts suggest that any stabilization in the local currency could influence pricing decisions later in the year, but no immediate relief is expected for consumers.
