South Africa's left-arm spinner, Keshav Maharaj, will miss the remainder of the ODI series against Pakistan after suffering a left adductor strain. The team confirmed the news through a social media post, stating that Maharaj will head to Durban for rehabilitation and will be reassessed ahead of the upcoming Test series against Pakistan.
Maharaj, who suffered the injury during the warm-up for the first ODI, has been a key player for South Africa across formats. Despite the setback, he was initially included in the Test squad for the Pakistan series.
South Africa has named Bjorn Fortuin as Maharaj's replacement for the final two ODIs. The Proteas are trailing Pakistan in the three-match ODI series after losing the opening game by three wickets in Paarl earlier this week.
Maharaj, 34, recently played a pivotal role in South Africa's Test victory against Sri Lanka, claiming a seven-wicket haul in Gqeberha. His absence will be a significant blow to South Africa's chances in the remaining ODIs against Pakistan.
