Actor Ananya Panday has faced the "privileged nepo kid" label since her debut in 'Student of the Year 2'. However, her father, veteran actor Chunky Panday, openly discusses both her strengths and areas for improvement.
During a chat on the 'We Are Yuvaa' YouTube channel, Chunky humorously highlighted Ananya’s "shrieky" voice as her key flaw as an actor.
When Ananya asked, “Do you think I’m a good actor?” Chunky cheekily responded, “At home or on screen? Mum thinks I am a better actor at home than on screen.” The lighthearted exchange had the father-daughter duo laughing, with Ananya adding, “Whenever my mom and dad fight, she tells him ‘Save it for the screen’, I find it damn funny.”
Chunky complimented Ananya’s growth, saying, “You are a surprising actor. You have surprised me with a few of your performances, especially with the first one I saw. But now what I saw in Call Me Bae, to kind of pull off those 7-8 episodes and still be pleasant to the eye and you want to watch it again and again, I think that’s a great achievement. That’s something I would never be able to do. I can pull off a few nice scenes in films, but carrying a whole film or show with you, that’s why I want to get your DNA checked.”
When Ananya sought feedback on areas to improve, she asked, “What is something I can work on? You keep saying its my voice, but do you think it has gotten better?” Chunky replied, “Sometimes, I feel you can remove the shriek. Do you think I have gotten better? Slightly. But every time you shriek, I want to call you up wherever you are at that time. Even I have got so many flaws, every actor has flaws. Actually, we become good actors because of our flaws.”
Chunky also reminisced about playing the role of Aakhri Pasta in the 'Housefull' series, admitting, “When I had to play an Italian, I am such a bad mimic, I landed up putting Afghani into it. So, Aakhri Pasta is a Pathan and an Italian. Its not bad, we can have flaws. But, yours looks like a flawless performance, bae. I am proud of you.”
On the professional front, Chunky Panday recently appeared in Anupam Kher’s 'Vijay 69'. Ananya Panday, last seen in Vikramaditya Motwane’s 'CTRL', will next star in 'Chand Mera Dil' alongside Lakshya Lalwani. The Vivek Soni-directed film is slated for a 2025 release.
