Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir directed on Tuesday the immediate measures to enhance the performance of dialysis centers established under the Punjab AIDS and Hepatitis Control Program.
During a review meeting, he issued key instructions for 85 dialysis centers operating in district headquarters (DHQ) and tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospitals across the province.
Highlighting patient safety, the minister emphasised the need for a detailed inspection report of patients registered in these centers. “The inspection report should be submitted without delay to ensure compliance with health standards,” he stated.
The dialysis centers equipped with 10 or more units have been advised to allocate a separate unit exclusively for HIV-positive patients to minimise cross-infection risks. “Complete screening of patients arriving at these centers will also be conducted to detect potential infections early,” Nazir added.
To standardize procedures, the minister proposed the formation of a technical group tasked with preparing comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Nazir also stressed the importance of swift action regarding the registration of dialysis centers to maintain operational transparency and efficiency.
