Gigi Hadid, the supermodel, and Zayn Malik, the former One Direction member, share the responsibility of raising their daughter, Khai, in a 50-50 custody arrangement.
While the finer details of their relationship remain private, Hadid opened up about the impact of co-parenting on her life and career in an interview with Porter magazine.
She spoke about the necessity of intentionality in parenting, stating, "I think when you are a parent, you have to be intentional because now, I literally have half the time." Hadid described how she manages her work schedule around her daughter's time with her father, Zayn Malik, emphasizing that the jobs she chooses to take during those periods must be personally fulfilling.
She said, "I work when my daughter is with her dad [Zayn Malik], and that's the time I have. And the jobs I choose to fill that time with have to be ones that are fulfilling to me. I will literally fit in as many jobs as I can on those days. I'm sometimes a crazy person, but if it means a lot to me, then I do it."
Hadid expressed a desire for her work to be exciting and fulfilling, explaining that she avoids editorial work if it feels like a waste of time. Instead, she seeks out new and exciting opportunities where everyone involved feels fulfilled and has fun.
Additionally, Hadid revealed that her daughter, Khai, who is turning three years old this month, is already contributing to the fashion world as a fit model for her cashmere line, Guest in Residence. She teased the launch of a kids' collection, with Khai and her best friend serving as fit models.
Zayn Malik has also spoken about co-parenting with Hadid, emphasizing the importance of their daughter's well-being. He described their relationship as good and expressed his desire to be hands-on with Khai as much as possible.
