Justin Baldoni has reportedly apologized to Blake Lively in a nearly seven-minute voice note following a disagreement over a pivotal rooftop scene in their film It Ends With Us.
The audio clip, published by TMZ on Monday, allegedly captures Baldoni expressing regret for how he handled the situation on set.
The voice note, reportedly recorded in April 2023, begins with Baldoni acknowledging a text message Lively sent about feeling undervalued during filming. "I want to start with an apology," Baldoni says in the clip. "My heart sank when I read your text... I for sure fell short, and you worked really hard on that. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing that with me. That takes a lot of trust and vulnerability."
Baldoni, who directed and starred in the film, admitted to being a "very flawed man" but emphasized his commitment to accountability. "I'm gonna f*** up. I'm going to say the wrong thing. I'm going to put my foot in my mouth... but I will always apologize and find my way back to center," he said.
The apology comes amid a legal battle between the two actors. Lively recently filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment on set and orchestrating a smear campaign after the film’s release in August 2023.
Baldoni has denied the allegations and countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane. The case is set to go to trial in March 2026.
In the voice note, Baldoni also addressed Lively’s script rewrites, which he praised as "really good" and essential to the film’s success. He referenced a meeting at Lively’s New York City home, where Reynolds and Taylor Swift allegedly commended her contributions. "I don’t need Ryan or Taylor to stand up for your rewrites," Baldoni said. "They’re really good, and it’s going to make the movie sing."
The rooftop scene in question became a point of contention during the film’s press tour, with Lively revealing that Reynolds had contributed to its writing—a claim that surprised screenwriter Christy Hall.
Representatives for Baldoni and Lively have not commented on the leaked audio. As the legal battle unfolds, the voice note offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes tensions that have escalated into a high-profile courtroom drama.
