The nation has commemorated the brave soldiers who played a pivotal role in the 1947 Gilgit-Baltistan liberation war.
These gallant individuals not only faced the enemy but also demonstrated unwavering commitment to their homeland.
One such soldier, Sepoy Raza Baig, recounted his experience: “I joined the Gilgit-Baltistan Liberation War in 1947, and after training, we set off under Shah Khan’s command towards Kargil.”
He described the harrowing conditions they faced, stating, “As we approached the posts, we were met with heavy shelling and gunfire from Indian forces. Eventually, we reached our posts and began to engage the enemy.”
He proudly shared, “We successfully captured their other posts and managed to raise the Pakistani flag.” Baig emphasized the determination that fueled their fight, saying, “We kept advancing against the enemy and liberated Gilgit-Baltistan.”
Lance Naik Jabar Ghazi also reflected on his experiences, noting, “We fought the 1948 war without proper equipment. Our faith, love for our homeland, and divine support enabled us to thwart the enemy's sinister plans.”
He recalled the fierce battles and the moment they decided to push forward, stating, “Despite heavy fire, we pressed on, invoking Allah’s name.”
Jabar shared his triumphant moments: “After enduring a day of firefights, we finally took control of our posts, and even without modern communication, we managed to raise the Pakistani flag after overcoming the enemy.”
He concluded with a powerful message of allegiance: “If Pakistan ever needs me again, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with my army to confront the enemy with all my strength. Pakistan is our identity.”
The Pakistani people salute the heroes' bravery and commitment to freedom.
