The Government of Pakistan has intensified efforts to combat smuggling as part of an ongoing campaign aimed at stabilizing the national economy and securing public welfare. This anti-smuggling drive, led by law enforcement agencies, has recently yielded significant results.
Between October 20 and October 28, authorities across Pakistan seized 1,105 stocks of smuggled cigarettes, 71 metric tons of flour, 293 fabric rolls, and approximately 0.131 million liters of Iranian oil.
These efforts are part of a broader initiative that began on September 1, 2023, which has so far resulted in the seizure of over 13,088.75 metric tons of fertilizer, 3,755.69 metric tons of flour, 35,129.1 metric tons of sugar, 4,381,102 cigarette stocks, 155,037 rolls of fabric, and 17.548 million liters of Iranian oil nationwide.
The government remains committed to continuing these enforcement actions to shield the economy from the adverse effects of smuggling, ensuring financial resilience during challenging times.
