A farewell dinner was held in Islamabad to honor Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, where he shared reflections on the judiciary, acknowledged his colleagues, and offered moments of humor about his late arrival.
Expressing gratitude, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said, “I thank the Pakistan Bar Council and the Supreme Court.”
He extended special praise to Justice Yahya Afridi, saying, “We could not understand Justice Yahya Afridi; his level is higher than us.” He recounted seeing a talk show where speculations were made about judicial decisions: “It was being said that if the Chief Justice gives this decision, such and such judge will give this decision. All the judges were present in the full court, and speculations were being made about them.”
Regarding Justice Afridi, he noted, “Justice Yahya Afridi was told that nothing can be said about what decision he will give. It was also said that whatever decision Justice Yahya Afridi will give will be in accordance with the constitution and law. People understood us, but no one understood Justice Yahya Afridi.”
Interesting reason for arriving late in dinner
Justice Isa lightheartedly explained his delayed arrival, sharing, “There are two reasons for arriving late. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan told me, ‘You will have your cup first, and then you will come.’ I also went for a haircut, but there was a guy doing a facial that seemed like it was never going to end.”
