The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that residents of Karachi should prepare for a spell of scorching weather over the next few days.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the PMD indicated that the city is likely to experience "hot to very hot and dry" conditions, with hot winds expected to blow in from the northwest.
The PMD reported that temperatures in Karachi have already reached a maximum of 39°C today, reflecting the intense heat that is anticipated to continue. "Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country," the statement noted, adding that only isolated areas in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan might see rain or thunderstorms.
The weather forecast also mentioned the presence of a westerly wave affecting the western and upper regions of Pakistan. While much of the country will experience hot and dry weather, the PMD predicted partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Looking ahead to the upcoming week, the PMD emphasized that hot and dry weather is expected to dominate most plain areas of the country. However, isolated regions in upper KP may witness rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
