Renowned YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as Mr Beast, has voiced concern over the growing YouTube influence of Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
During a candid conversation on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast, Mr Beast expressed unease about the possibility of Ronaldo surpassing him in subscribers. With his YouTube channel boasting over 318 million subscribers, Mr Beast currently holds the title of the most-subscribed individual on the platform.
However, Ronaldo's rapid rise on YouTube has the internet personality on high alert.
Ronaldo, who recently ventured into the YouTube arena with his channel UR Cristiano in August, managed to break records by becoming the fastest to reach 10 million subscribers. Currently, his channel has amassed 63.9 million subscribers in just a few months, making him a serious contender for YouTube dominance.
Mr Beast, 26, acknowledged Ronaldo’s massive online presence, stating, “I broke the world record for most subs in a month, and two months later, Ronaldo comes on... If there were someone who would pass me, it would be Ronaldo."
The YouTuber admitted that the footballer’s popularity across various platforms could threaten his reign as YouTube's top creator.
In a bid to counter Ronaldo’s rise, Donaldson hinted at a potential collaboration with Argentine legend Lionel Messi, Ronaldo’s long-time football rival. “I’m not going down without a fight. I mean, Messi, let’s go! If Messi’s the only thing standing between Ronaldo passing me… I mean, if I got to do a Messi collab," he said humorously.
Messi, the Argentine captain and seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, remains a dominant figure in the football world, and a collaboration between him and Mr Beast could bolster the YouTuber's subscriber base.
As Ronaldo continues to expand his digital empire beyond football, his foray into YouTube has caught the attention of many, adding another dimension to his already legendary career. Whether Mr Beast’s potential Messi collaboration will be enough to stave off Ronaldo's rise on the platform remains to be seen.
