Pre-production on the highly anticipated Dhoom 4 has officially begun at Yash Raj Films (YRF), directed by Aditya Chopra.
The Dhoom franchise, which began in 2004 with the release of the first film starring John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan, is renowned for having revolutionized the action genre in Indian cinema. The franchise has undergone a continuous evolution.
Indian media reports that Ranbir Kapoor will play the lead in the upcoming part, entitled "Dhoom Reloaded," which will be a major change for the series.
Ranbir, who has long expressed interest in the project, is set to portray the antagonist. “The discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest in being a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise. Adi Chopra feels that RK is the ideal choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy,” a source close to the development stated.
No members of the original cast will be returning for this revival; instead, two well-known heroes from the younger age will play cop buddy roles. The crew is prepared to proceed into the casting phase now that the primary story has been finalized.
Dhoom 4 is expected to be the largest film in the series and a tentpole feature that satisfies international standards for Indian cinema, according to sources.
Produced by Chopra and Vijay Krishna Acharya, the script aims to deliver an unparalleled cinematic experience.
By the middle of 2025, Yash Raj Films (YRF) intends to select a director, who will work with the group to do a thorough scouting and pre-production phase. Filming on the movie is anticipated to start in late 2025 or early 2026.
As his 25th movie, Dhoom 4 is expected to be a significant moment in Ranbir Kapoor's career.
The actor is keen to add something exceptional to this silver jubilee project.
