Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh has launched an indefinite hunger strike in Dibrugarh jail in Assam, along with nine fellow detainees.
All detainees were held under the National Security Act (NSA) early this year after much movie-drama in Punjab. The protest began after lawyer's access was restricted to them within the jail premises.
Amritpal Singh's wife begins hunger strike too
Outside the confines of the prison, Kirandeep Kaur, Amritpal Singh's wife, has also begun a hunger strike as a token of solidarity with her husband.
Letter to Jail Superintendent
All nine detainees had penned a letter to the Dibrugarh jail superintendent expressing their dissatisfaction with the Amritsar deputy commissioner (DC) for allegedly obstructing their lawyer Rajdev's visit to the jail.
