Six soldiers were martyred, and 12 terrorists killed in two fierce encounters with Pakistan Army troops on September 19 and 20 in the North and South Waziristan districts.
According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations, security forces detected a group of seven terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan district on September 19. The infiltrators were besieged and engaged in a fierce firefight, leading to the elimination of all seven militants.
A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the scene.
In a separate incident in the Ladha area of South Waziristan district, a group of terrorists launched an attack on a security forces' checkpost. The troops defended the position, thwarting the intrusion and killing five of the attackers.
Unfortunately, during the intense exchange of gunfire, six soldiers were also martyred.
The ISPR statement says sanitization operations are ongoing to ensure the area is cleared of any remaining terrorists. The security forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism from the country, and the sacrifices of these brave soldiers only strengthen their determination.
