In an important step toward strengthening bilateral ties, Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing trade, economic, and cultural cooperation.
During a high-level meeting in Islamabad, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the importance of deepening the partnership between the two nations.
The meeting covered a wide range of topics, including trade, energy, education, and public relations, with both sides agreeing to further boost collaboration in these sectors.
Discussions also focused on the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, as well as key issues like food security and economic stability.
Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing talks on free trade agreements involving five countries, including Pakistan. The potential for enhancing mutual trade was also explored, with a particular focus on reaching agreements that would benefit both nations.
On the Pakistani side, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar expressed Pakistan’s desire for equal and balanced relations with Russia, reaffirming that expanding economic ties with Moscow is a key part of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Dar highlighted the increase in trade volume, which has grown to one billion dollars, and expressed optimism about the future of economic relations between the two countries.
The meeting also touched on broader geopolitical issues. Both countries reiterated their commitment to working together for peace and stability in Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of resolving ongoing conflicts, including the brutality in Palestine.
