Karachi is gearing up for a possible change in weather as the Met Department predicts rain with thunder for tomorrow.
Currently basking under clear and bright sunshine, the city is expected to experience a significant shift in conditions as monsoon winds are likely to enter eastern Sindh today.
According to the Meteorological Department, today's maximum temperature in Karachi is forecasted to reach 34 degrees Celsius, while the current temperature stands at 27 degrees Celsius. Despite the sunny weather, residents are advised to prepare for the possibility of rainfall, which could bring much-needed relief from the heat.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz says the sixth spell of monsoon will enter Sindh from today, which is likely to bring heavy rain in the province. There is no possibility of torrential rain in Karachi though, he adds.
Sarfraz further says there is a high chance of rain in the suburbs, while there may be moderate to light rain in some areas of the city.
In addition to the weather forecast, concerns about air quality in Karachi continue to rise. The city has been ranked 14th among the most polluted cities in the world, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI). Within Pakistan, Karachi holds the third position among the most polluted cities.
