In a significant move to ease the process for those who failed their driving license tests, the Lahore chief traffic officer (CTO) has announced a new policy.
Candidates who do not pass the road test will now have the opportunity to retake it after just 15 days, a major reduction from the previous waiting period of 42 days.
"This facility was already available to the failed candidates in the sign test," CTO Amara Athar says.
She said the new facility is part of an amendment to the Punjab Motor Vehicle Rules 1969, introduced to save citizens valuable time and streamline the licensing process. Now, the candidates who fail the sign and road tests can retake the test after 15 days, she added.
CTO Amara Athar highlighted that all test videos, including those for both road and sign tests, are recorded and stored. This ensures that merit and transparency are maintained in the licensing system.
The recent changes are expected to alleviate the long waiting periods that previously frustrated many candidates, making the process of obtaining a driving license more efficient and user-friendly.
