The University of Home Economics has inaugurated the Helen Mary Roberts Chair for Peace and Conflict Studies under its Department of History and Pakistan Studies. The chair was officially launched by Brigadier Dr. Helen Mary of the Pakistan Army, who attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
During the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Faleha Zahra Kazmi highlighted the importance of the new chair, stating that its establishment aims to promote research on peace using the platform of the university. She emphasized that universities should play the role of ambassadors of peace, noting that "Pakistan is a peace-loving nation, and we take pride in having citizens like Brigadier Dr. Helen Mary, who are a national asset."
In her address, Brigadier Dr. Helen Mary stressed the significance of education in serving humanity and promoting peace. She remarked, "Education is not just about earning a degree; it is a means to becoming a better individual. Education, humanity, and peace are interconnected, and if we value education and maintain peace, we can build a better future."
Brigadier Dr. Helen Mary also called on the nation to encourage one another and work collectively to make Pakistan a beacon of peace. She affirmed the commitment of the Pakistan Army to fostering peace and development in the country with the support of the Pakistani people.
