A significant breakthrough on the controversial madrassah bill could be reached as early as tomorrow, according to Kamran Murtaza, a senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
Speaking in the TV show, 'Nadeem Malik' Live on Samaa TV, Murtaza claimed that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is actively working on revisions to the existing bill, with efforts being made to address the demands of prominent religious leaders, including Tahir Ashrafi.
Murtaza also suggested that influential political figures may be playing a key role in the process. “It seems that the powerful are involved in the matter,” he remarked in the show.
He further said that the madrassahs that have been registered with the Ministry of Education will remain affiliated there. The remaining seminaries will continue to function under the Societies Registration Act, he said further, adding that a solution acceptable to all would be found.
