A tragic accident occurred on the service road near Karsaz in Karachi, where a speeding SUV ran over two motorcycles and struck a car, leading to the death of a father and daughter, and injuring five others.
The incident took place when the large vehicle, driven by a woman later identified as Natasha, daughter of a local businessman, lost control and hit the motorcycles before ramming into a car. Witnesses at the scene reported that the vehicle then reversed, further escalating the situation.
The victims of the accident were identified as Imran Arif, 60, and his 22-year-old daughter, Amina, residents of Scheme 33. Imran Arif was returning home from his office with his daughter when the incident took place. Both father and daughter succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Five other individuals, who were injured in the accident, were immediately rushed to Jinnah Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The condition of four of them is reported to be stable, while one is said to be critical.
Following the accident, a large crowd of citizens gathered at the site, and Natasha, the driver of the SUV, was apprehended by the public and handed over to the police. According to law enforcement officials, Natasha did not appear to be mentally stable at the time of her arrest. A UK driving license was found in her possession.
Later, a first information report of the traffic accident was registered at the Bahadurabad police station on the complaint of the brother of deceased Imran Arif.
Police officials claims the woman driver of the vehicle that caused the accident was also injured and had suffered a head injury. A CT scan of the woman was being conducted at Jinnah Hospital, they added. The police also initiated a medical examination to determine if she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
