The monsoon rains in Punjab show no signs of abating. Lahore saw a mix of sunshine and clouds, with the city's current temperature recorded at 27 degrees Celsius, and humidity levels at 85%, according to the Met Department.
Further thunder-showers are expected in Lahore through the evening, with the possibility of continued rainfall over the next three days. Temperatures in the city ranged between a high of 36 degrees Celsius and a low of 26 degrees Celsius today, providing some respite from the summer heat.
The effects of the monsoon rains were also felt in other parts of the country. Intermittent rain has been reported on the national highway in Chichawatni, Mian Channu, Khanewal, Basti Maluk, and at Abdul Hakeem, Multan and Rajana area on Motorway M3.
These showers have led to challenges such as road slippage and power outages in some areas. The Motorway Police issued an advisory urging drivers to exercise caution due to slippery road conditions caused by the rain.
Moreover, heavy showers hit Khanewal, Lodhran, Shorkot, and Jalalpur Pirwala, creating pleasant weather. In agricultural areas like Dunyapur, cotton crops may be at risk due to the persistent rain, though residents welcomed the cooler weather. Heavy rainfall was also reported in Isakhel, with pleasant weather spreading across the surrounding regions.
Despite some disruptions, including feeder trips and power outages in Lodhran, the rains have been generally welcomed for providing much-needed relief from the intense heat.
Meanwhile, the weather has turned pleasant in Karachi with light rain and drizzle reported in various areas, providing much-needed relief from the heat.
Areas such as North Karachi, New Karachi, Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, and Tower experienced light rain, bringing cooler temperatures and a refreshing change. According to the Met Department, light rain and drizzle are expected to continue throughout most of the city today.
As the monsoon season continues across the country, Karachi residents have welcomed the cooler weather, which has significantly improved conditions. The pleasant change follows weeks of warm and humid conditions.
