After the initial spell of monsoon rains in Lahore, the city is once again experiencing increasing heat and humidity.
According to the Met Department, the maximum temperature today is likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius, though the heat index makes it feel closer to 46 degrees due to high moisture levels in the air. With humidity at 53%, residents are feeling the brunt of the scorching weather.
The Met Office has indicated that there is no chance of rain in Lahore this week, and the weather is expected to remain hot. However, there is some relief in sight, as the intensity of the heat is predicted to decrease next week.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather forecast
The intensity of heat is going to further increase in the plains and southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Peshawar, the minimum temperature is recorded at 31 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to reach 38 degrees. The city's humidity level stands at a high 49%.
However, the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to receive some respite with chances of rain and strong winds. The Met Department forecasts heavy rain in Chitral, Lower and Upper Dir, Battagram, Abbottabad, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Buner, Bajaur, and Mohmand. Rain is also expected in Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Landikotal, Khyber, Malakand, Peshawar, and Hangu.
In the past 24 hours, Bannu district recorded 12mm of rain, while DI Khan and Bajaur received three millimetres each.
The fluctuating weather patterns highlight the ongoing challenges residents face in dealing with both intense heat and sporadic rainfall during the monsoon season. Authorities are urging people to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions to cope with the adverse weather conditions.
