Over 1,000 Afghan nationals who were taken into custody from various parts of Rawalpindi have been deported to Afghanistan, police sources confirmed. The deportations were carried out over the past week via the Torkham border crossing.
According to police sources, before deportation, all individuals were kept in a holding camp where their documents were processed, and all legal formalities were completed.
Operations against undocumented Afghan nationals are still ongoing in different areas. Police teams continue to take action as part of the wider crackdown.
The sources further added that even families holding Afghan registration cards will be temporarily shifted to camps during the operation for document verification and background checks.
