Pakistan shines on the global stage as Gujranwala-based athlete Nooh Dastgir Butt secures the gold medal in the Hercules Columns competition at the Pahlavon Mahmud Strongman Games 2024 in Uzbekistan's city of Khiva.

The weightlifter competed against wrestlers from 16 countries at the contest organised by the World Strongman Competition. Butt demonstrated unparalleled strength and determination to emerge victorious in the prestigious event.
His father and coach, Dastigar Butt, expressed immense pride in Noah's accomplishment, highlighting that his son would bring further glory to the nation through continued success in future competitions.
In August 2022, Butt had had won the first gold medal for the country in weightlifting men's 109 plus-kg category at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The then 24-year-old set a new Games record of 173kg in the snatch portion of the event after lifting 170kg in his first attempt.
In Clean and Jerk, he lifted 232kg, totalling 405kg to claim gold for Pakistan.
