The chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, Naseem Ahmed Memon, held a press conference to announce the commencement of annual examinations starting on June 1.
He outlined several key measures to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of exams across Sindh, with a particular focus on Karachi.
Memon revealed that the examinations would be conducted in two shifts across all divisions of Sindh, with a total of 180 examination centres established in Karachi alone. Over 200,000 candidates are expected to participate in these inter exams.
To maintain order and security, Section 144 will be enforced around examination centres, and a decision has been made to seize mobile phones to prevent cheating.
"Rangers staff will be posted outside sensitive examination centres to ensure security," Memon stated, emphasizing the importance of a secure and conducive examination environment.
In response to the severe heat wave predicted during the exam period, the chairman said special health measures have been put in place. Medical staff will be present at examination centres, and for the first time, students will be provided with energy medicines to prevent malnutrition. These include painkillers, anti-allergy medications, glucose, vitamin C, and mineral water, all available for free, he added. Additionally, ambulances will be stationed outside the centres to handle any emergencies.
Memon stressed that examination centers have been set up only in colleges that have adequate facilities to accommodate the large number of candidates. He assured that continuous efforts are being made to improve examination arrangements and provide a supportive environment for students.
Addressing concerns about the quality of materials used, Memon mentioned that the paper currently used for exams has been reported to be carcinogenic. He assured that this issue has been taken notice of, adding that the security of the Interboard had been handed over to the Rangers.
In conclusion, Chairman Naseem Ahmed Memon reiterated the board's commitment to conducting fair and secure exams while ensuring the health and well-being of students during this challenging period.
