Two suspected target killers allegedly involved in sectarian target killings were arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police, who confessed to killing 13 people and injuring 11 others.
According to DIG CTD Police Asif Ijaz Shaikh, the suspects, Waqar Abbas and Hussain Akbar, were found to be affiliated with the banned organization Zainabyun. The mastermind, Syed Hussain Mousavi alias Muslim, allegedly provided targets, funds, and other facilities to his operatives from abroad.
The CTD investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in a series of target killings, which were initially thought to be robbery-related incidents. However, further investigation revealed that the victims were mostly workers of a religious party.
The suspects confessed to killing 13 people, including Sher Muhammad, Qaiser Farqi, Adnan, Meraj, Hamad Usama, Muhammad Salim, Habib-ur-Rehman, Shoaib, Saifur Rehman, Muhammad Ayub, Abdul Bari, Saad Farooqi, and Muhammad Yaminuddin.
The CTD also recovered weapons, motorbikes, and a "rake list" from the arrested suspects, which contained details of over 15 people. The investigation further revealed that three teams were involved in target killing, and several other suspects were identified, including Syed Soheib Abbas alias Waqar Gilgiti, Haider Gilgiti, and others.
DIG CTD Asif Ijaz Shaikh assured that action against black sheep in CTD would continue, and 14 officials had been dismissed, while over 100 officials had been punished so far.
