The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has compiled a comprehensive report detailing the alarming surge in terrorism incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year.
According to the report, a staggering total of 131 terrorism-related incidents have been documented in the region this year.
The report highlights the distribution of these incidents. Dera Ismail Khan recorded 25 incidents of terrorism, followed by North Waziristan with 21, and Tank with 17. Additionally, Lakki Marwat witnessed 11 incidents, while Khyber reported 10, underscoring the widespread nature of terrorism in the province.
Of particular concern are the targeted attacks on law enforcement personnel, with terrorists launching 59 assaults on police forces. Tragically, these attacks resulted in the deaths of 49 policemen, while 68 others sustained injuries.
In response to these escalating threats, the CTD has intensified efforts to combat terrorism, resulting in significant operational successes.
Five terrorists have been arrested, while three others have been neutralized in encounters with law enforcement agencies. Moreover, the CTD has successfully seized two suicide jackets and a substantial quantity of explosives weighing 76 kilogrammes in separate operations, thwarting potential terrorist activities.
